Wenger's message to Wilshere -Suarez to stay at Liverpool? -Gustavo's impending announcement

Morning Gooners.

It wouldn't be a transfer window without Arsenal being linked with a move for Lyon's Yoann Gourcuff, who is apparently prepared to cut his wages in order to ease a switch from France to north London.

Arsene Wenger might get so desperate this time round to actually sign the midfielder who has started the season in fine form with a goal and two assists in Lyon's opening game of Ligue 1.


What appears to actually be happening with transfers is seriously under wraps. However the Daily Mail report we've had extensive scouting reports prepared on Swansea striker Michu and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko.

Neither player fills me with much excitement, I have to be honest. They aren't Luis Suarez, a player who can score your team 30 goals a season and turn you into title contenders.

And talking of Suarez, Martin Charquero, of GolTV Latin American, has claimed the forward told him personally he would not leave Anfield, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

He's tweeted: 

"Luis Suarez confirms to me he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans has influenced his decision. 

"Suarez see it as likely that he'll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool."

Now if this is true he's rowing back on what's already been said, especially after he said he would remain silent while on international duty about his future.

It's clear we need to up our offer in order to help push through a deal. And if that means paying £50m I think we need to bite the bullet and do it.

One player who is set to talk about his future in more detail is Bayern Munich defensive midfielder Luis Gustavo, hopefully after Brazil's game with Switzerland.

Elsewhere it's being reported that Malaga hope to use right-back Jesus Gamez as a make weight in a deal to sign Nicklas Bendtner.

Gamez, 28, could be on his way to north London with Bendtner going to Spain. But the Denmark international's wages seem to be a problem.

And finally with all the talk of Jack Wilshere wearing the England armband one day, it's reassuring that his club manager has a simple message for the midfielder.

Asked to disclose the last thing Wenger said to him before joining up with the England squad. "Come back fit," he replied.

We need all ten of our players on international duty to return without injury otherwise we'll be in serious trouble putting together a competitive team this weekend.
