Flamini a safe bet against Tottenham

Flamini a safe bet against Tottenham

Will Mathieu Flamini slot straight into the team for the north London derby?

Mathieu Flamini might not have been the big name signing that Arsenal fans having been hoping for since the revealing of a significant war chest at the beginning of the transfer window.
However, he does fit the bill as far as being the sort of player the current Arsenal team lack.
Arsenal have clearly lacked a determined and battling defensively minded central midfielder since, some would argue, Flamini and Gilberto Silva left the club in 2008.

A quick look at the stats would suggest that Flamini has hardly set the world on fire since he left for A.C. Milan on a free, but observers of Italian football would note his hugely important role for Milan in the second half of last season, where he helped Milan to third place and Champions League football.
He is a player with experience of the Premier League, the Champions League and Serie A. He has played alongside some of the best midfielders of the past decade from Cesc Fabregas to David Beckham and brings a winning mentality having been in teams that have won the FA Cup, the Supercoppa Italiana, the Serie A and making the final of the Champions League.
If Flamini had not played for Arsenal before and Wenger was paying £15million for him, I think Arsenal fans would be a lot more excited about this news than they are.
Will he slot straight into the Arsenal team for the north London derby? Who knows, but with all the injuries, he must have a pretty good chance.
