Seven players Arsenal could sign after Luis Suarez setback

With Luis Suarez seemingly ending Arsenal’s hope of signing him with a pledge to Liverpool fans, and a host of other big-name strikers already moved on, Metro asks; who’s realistically left for Arsene Wenger to bring in this summer?

Sounds crazy considering European Champions Bayern Munich tried and failed to prise him away this summer, but like the Suarez situation, it was Dortmund’s reluctance to sell to a rival that killed any deal. Lewandowski has only one year remaining on his current contract, and should Arsenal launch a £30m offer, it should definitely be enough to at least get themselves around the negotiating table.

Tall order: Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko (Picture: Reuters)

Highly regarded at the Emirates and could find himself struggling for action at City – despite Manuel Pellegrini’s claims that he’s his main man. A £20million offer may prove tempting to the Ethiad outfit, although Arsenal may again find themselves running into problems with buying from a rival.

A revelation last term and was tipped to be highly sought-after this summer, but it’s all been quiet around the Liberty Stadium exit door. The £15m-rated striker certainly wouldn’t be the marquee signing Gunners fans were hoping for, but the Spaniard demonstrated his quality last season and could be worth a punt.

You got to go’o: Anzhi’s Samuel Eto’o (Picture: AP)

One of the most dangerous strikers in the world back in 2011, and now seemingly available, but two years spent slogging it out in Russia earning a reported £300,000-a-week may have zapped the spark from the once lethal marksman. Still only 32 and could be worth a gamble, especially as he’s reportedly willing to significantly reduce his whopping salary to return to the highest level. Chelsea and Manchester United also rumored to be keen.

Surplus to requirements at Juve, but the Italian’s quality should not be sniffed at. Still a live wire in and around the box, and plenty of life in him yet at 30 years’ old.

Having sold David Villa and Thiago Alcantara already, Barca will not be looking to move on the Chilean. However, with Lionel Messi, Neymar, Pedro and Cesc Fabregas all vying for forward roles, there may just be manoeuvre to negotiate a deal for Sanchez should the price be right.
