CR: Suarez hints at Gunners switch

By CR
Want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has suggested he would relish a switch to Arsenal, who remain the frontrunners for his signature.
The Uruguay international has expressed his desire to leave Merseyside this summer in search of Champions League football.
Suarez this week stepped up his efforts to engineer a move away from Anfield by going to the press. He claimed Reds manager Brendan Rodgers gave him assurances that he would be able to move on if they failed to finish in the top four last season, with a buy-out clause of £40million written into his contract.
Rodgers has “categorically” denied promising the 26-year-old a transfer and forced his star man to train on his own after “disrespecting” the club.
All signs point to the exit door, with the Gunners, currently 25/1 in the Champions League outright betting market, waiting in the wings to make a significant signing. They will still need to up their bid of £40m and £1 but the latest developments increase their chances of landing Suarez.
The controversial frontman adopted a more considered approach on Thursday, insisting he wants to reach an agreement with Liverpool in a “friendly” manner. He is desperate to play at the highest level in Europe.
Suarez told Spanish newspaper Marca:
Everyone should understand that I need to play the Champions League to keep growing as a footballer. Now I have the chance, I want to take it.
A Champions League team (Arsenal) is making a big effort to get me and one always wants to be where they feel comfortable.
The signing of Suarez could be viewed as a risk but he has undoubted quality and would bring the best out of the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. It would also let the rest of the Premier League know the Gunners mean business this season.
