Wenger - Spurs spending is risky

Arsenal, Last updated:
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is not concerned by Tottenham's spending spree and warned it could destabilise their squad.
With the world-record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid imminent, Spurs have set about strengthening their squad with the expected cash windfall.
They have already broken their transfer record three times with the arrivals of Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela, while the signings of Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Vlad Chiriches and Christian Eriksen have taken their summer spending beyond £100million.
Arsenal, in contrast, have spent nothing, with the free transfer signings of Mathieu Flamini and Yaya Sanogo the only arrivals at the Gunners this summer.
Wenger has been forced to repeatedly defend his transfer strategy in recent weeks and insists he will not panic buy ahead of this Monday's deadline.
Speaking ahead of the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, he acknowledged Tottenham's spending makes them a threat but insists signing so many players at once is also a risk.
"I know all the players they have bought. For the rest, we will see how well they integrate and how well they will do. It is very difficult to predict that," he said.
"They try very hard [to bridge the gap on the top four] of course, that is normal. In our job, there is always a technical risk when you buy more than three players because you unbalance a little bit the stability of your squad.
"I know that in England it is very well seen, but it is always difficult when you bring so many players in, how everybody will do to predict that."
