Arsenal are closing in on the signature of Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is confident the 19-year-old German will prove a shrewd acquisition to his squad, with the player due at the Emirates this week to complete a reported £6 million deal. Source: The Metro
Liverpool have been dealt a transfer blow after reported target Kurt Zouma confirmed he will remain at Saint-Etienne for the another season. Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be on the look out for a new central defender, with the France Under-20 starlet said to be among his targets. However, Zouma has rubbished speculation that he was about to leave the Ligue 1 side, saying: “There was a lot of noise this summer about a transfer for me. I can only say one thing – I will be at Saint-Etienne this season, for sure.” Source: TalkSPORT
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has accused Arsenal of lacking class, after reacting furiously to their pursuit of unsettled striker, Luis Suarez. Arsene Wenger has criticised Liverpool for denying the Uruguayan star the chance to talk to Arsenal after their recent bid of £1 above £40 million, however, Rodgers has now hit back saying: “I’ve got to say I’ve always associated Arsenal as a club with class and so there was a wee bit of a game there. For us, it’s about moving on and doing our own work.” Source: The Telegraph
Manchester United have rejected a near-£30 million Chelsea bid for striker Wayne Rooney. Jose Mourinho has made the England international his number one transfer target this summer, however, he has again been frustrated by United who rebuffed Chelsea’s second approach for Rooney on Sunday evening. But, Rooney has told David Moyes he wants to leave Old Trafford and will submit an official transfer request this week. The United boss was hopeful of persuading Rooney to stay at the club, however, the 27-year-old has told Moyes that he is disillusioned after nine seasons at United and wants a fresh challenge. Tottenham Hotspur are refusing to hold any further talks with Real Madrid over a deal for Gareth Bale, until the Spanish side make a substantially better offer for the Welsh star. Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is standing firm on the subject, and is determined not to negotiate any further until Real have increased their initial offer of £80 million for Bale. Source: The Telegraph
Spurs are also insisting that Spanish Under 21 star Alvaro Morata must be part on the deal that takes Bale to the Bernabeu this summer. A meeting between Daniel Levy and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is scheduled for this week in Florida, however, Levy will only attend if Perez is willing to negotiate Morata’s inclusion in any deal.
