Arsenal And Chelsea Set To Compete To Sign Luiz Gustavo

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea looks set to compete to sign Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo, according to reports.

The Daily Star has revealed that following the arrival of Pep Guardiola at the Bundesliga champion’s, Gustavo has slipped down the pecking order and fears that he will not have a regular starting place in the team.

Bayern have signed midfielder Alcantara from Barcelona this summer and the article suggests that Bayern will have a change in tactics this season which will not suit Gustavo.

The report suggests that Gustavo is looking for a move to a club with European football on offer and therefore both of the London clubs fall into that bracket.

The same story reveals that fellow German club Wolfsburg are also interested in signing the 26-year-old, but it is thought the defensive midfielder would prefer a move to a team with European football.

Furthermore, it is reported that Gustavo is keen to play regular first team football in order to play himself into contention for a place in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup next summer.

Gustavo has made 100 appearances for Bayern in three seasons at the club, but only featured 22 times in the Bundesliga last season.
