Tottenham
Hotspur are ready to cock-a-snook at Arsenal's interest in Liverpool
striker Luis Suarez as they consider an eleventh hour move for the
player themselves.
Armed
with around £100 million from the likely sale of winger Gareth Bale to
Real Madrid, White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy is determined to show
the club is now operating at the highest level.
And
with Arsenal having shown their interest with a £40 million plus £1
bid, Levy is determined to put the rival's nose out of joint.
Following national reports a source told Sports Direct News
exclusively: "Nobody truly expects Suarez to arrive at White Hart Lane
but Daniel's not a man to allow a point-making opportunity to pass.
"However,
if he gets the opportunity to talk to the player he can make a very
real pitch for his services in the current climate!
"His interest in Suarez will cause real ripples of alarm at the Emirates because everyone knows his negotiating skills. It's an amusing scenario."
Elsewhere,
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out a move for Porto's Jackson
Martinez - a reported target - declaring: "I'm not interested in the
player."
