Stats Analysis: The Three Centre-Midfielders Spurs Should Start To Outgun Arsenal

4236440 Thanks to the highly-publicised interest from Real Madrid in Gareth Bale for the huge majority of the summer, Tottenham have uncharacteristically had one of their most active transfer markets to date this summer.
Although the Welshman’s sale remains officially incomplete, his future looks set to end up somewhere beyond White Hart Lane come September 3rd, and major investments have been made all the while at Tottenham, mostly within their midfield.
With Friday’s arrival of Argentine Erik Lamela, Andre Villas-Boas has added to the already crowded ranks of Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Moussa Dembele, Lewis Holtby, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro, Aaron Lennon and Tom Carroll. Phew.
The influx now leaves Spurs with a quandary ahead of what will be the first North London derby for many within the squad.
So far this season, AVB has deployed a midfield three of Dembele, Paulinho and Sandro, with Capoue and Sigurdsson also appearing in varied roles.
For the sake of this article, it’s that three-pronged centre-midfield line that looks most likely to continue its use at the Emirates on Sunday. Here’s the three that Villas-Boas should start on Sunday.
