Aaron Ramsey sets comeback date

Aaron Ramsey sets comeback date
Aaron Ramsey + Santi Cazorla Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is targeting Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea on Saturday 22 March for his comeback from injury according to reports today. The newspaper understand that Aaron Ramsey had been given the all-clear to step up his rehabilitation programme at the end of last week. The Wales captain has returned from a week’s warm-weather training in Dubai. Aaron Ramsey remains the club’s second top goalscorer in the Premier League this season with 8 goals despite being sidelined since Boxing Day with a thigh injury. The injury was picked up during the Gunners’ 3-1 win over West Ham after he had been a virtual ever-present during the first half of the season. The injury was aggravated when he returned to first team training at the end of January. Arsène Wenger had initially ruled Ramsey out for six weeks but the recurring problems with his thigh will see him spend nearly three months on the sidelines. Following fresh scans, the 23-year old is hopeful he will return to first team action before the end of March, lining up Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea on 22 March to make his return. Manager Wenger has a number of first team midfield players missing ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with defending champions Bayern Munich. Along with Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Abou Diaby and January loan signing Kim Källström are all sidelined, whilst Mikel Arteta is suspended. Defender Thomas Vermaelen has also been ruled out of the first leg.
