Arsenal fans mustn't judge Ozil, says ex-star

Nigel Winterburn believes Arsenal fans shouldn't judge playmaker Mesut Ozil yet, reports talkSPORT
The German international has struggled with life at the Emirates in recent months and suffered a nightmare match as the Gunners were beaten by Champions LEague holders 2-0 at the Emirates last night.
Ozil missed a first-half penalty and struggled to keep up with the pace of the match in north London last night, however Winterburn has insisted Gunners fans should judge the ex-Real Madrid man next season.
Speaking to Extra Time, Winterburn said: “When you come with a big reputation [it’s hard]. The way he started [was brilliant] but he’s still coming to terms with life at Arsenal. It’s very hard.
“I don’t see Ozil as a player who’s going to dominate a game for 90 minutes. He’s a player who comes in and out of games. As a long as he’s coming into the game a fair bit, and making contributions, [then that’s OK]. That’s what we’re going to see with Ozil.
“People are also going to ask questions because of his transfer fee and the fact his performances have dropped.
“I’ve always said, no matter where you come from, when you make a big move, you have to be judged on your second season.”
Ozil will now be hoping to make amends as Arsenal are back in Premier League action against Sunderland at the Emirates this weekend.
Despite Arsenal's struggles in Europe, they can still end their trophy drought this season as they sit just one point adrift of Chelsea, who are top of the table.
And Arsenal fans will be desperate to see their side secure all three points against Gus Poyet's side on Saturday afternoon.
