Stoke City fans are a disgrace for targeting Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey Aaron Ramsey is the subject of vile chants from vile people (Picture: Getty Images) There is, of course, no love lost between Arsenal and Stoke fans. From Arsene Wenger’s ‘rugby’ comments to the assaults they regularly inflict on the pitch, neither side likes the other. This is not news. Taking things to a new low, however, the Stoke fans currently have an online campaign on a message board to synchronise their singing efforts when Arsenal come to the Britannia on Saturday. Nothing unusual in that you might think until you realise that the target of the majority of these efforts will be Aaron Ramsey, the youngster whose only crime was to have his leg smashed to bits by one of their players. They have taken exception to the fact that Ramsey wasn’t that bothered when Shawcross apologised and to them the words Wenger uttered in the heat of the moment after his young star had been on the receiving end of potentially career-ending injury from a player, who has previous when it comes to inflicting serious injury, was the real crime. Shawcross was so upset his mum had to come and pick him up don’t you know? Yeah? Well Ramsey had to have an ambulance collect him. They also seem particularly annoyed that Ramsey dared to shush them when he scored against them earlier in the season. Although only five minutes were on the clock when Ramsey found the net, the Stoke fans had been booing him from kick-off, just like they have booed him every time he’s faced them since recovering from his horrendous injury. What did they expect him to do? Thank Shawcross for ensuring he lost a number of years from his career? Perhaps he should have sent flowers for the opportunity Shawcross afforded him to spend time in hospital undergoing operations to put his leg back together. Maybe he shouldn’t have celebrated his goal out of respect for the idiocy of the Stoke fans? The mentality of Stoke fans regarding the entire incident has been an absolute disgrace and the fact that they still act like they are the victims in this whole ugly affair is farcical. Unfortunately Ramsey won’t be involved this weekend as he recovers from a thigh injury but, no thanks to Ryan Shawcross, he is lucky he is able to play football at all. Shawcross missed three games through suspension for his ‘tackle,’ Ramsey lost a hell of a lot more than that. Let’s not pretend anyone other than Aaron Ramsey was the victim here. If the Stoke fans want Ramsey and the Arsenal fans to move on, maybe they should just shut up.
