Is this why Arsenal weren’t willing to pay €45m for Schalke star?

Arsenal transfer target Julian Draxler has been notified as a danger man by the Spanish press ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League tie with Schalke.
German international Julian Draxler was linked with a big money move to Arsenal throughout the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has a reported €45m release clause, and despite the bookies backing Arsenal heavily to make it happen, a deal never concluded – with Arsene Wenger reportedly unwilling to offer that amount.
Is Draxler or his potential worth €45m? It’s a question that can only be answered in time, but one man who doubts that figure is current Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper Andres Palop.
The 40-year.old Spanish goalkeeper is a former La Liga great, having had spells at Valencia, Villarreal but more notably for Sevilla where he won a host of trophies – including the Europa League where he stopped three of four penalty kicks in the Europa League Final shootout victory against Espanyol.
Now at Leverkusen, Palop has been interviewed by Spanish paper AS ahead of Real Madrid’s tie with his side’s Bundelsiga rivals Schalke 04.
Arsenal target Julian Draxler became a key topic, and despite his extraordinary talent, Andres Palop doubts his worth at €45m and lists his reason why, saying:
“He has extraordinary talent, something different to the rest. But, to pay that sort of money [€45m] he out to have more consistency and show himself a little more.”
“In the transfer market, if you don’t sign someone quickly you may regret it later.”
“The truth is, Draxler has talent, although has just returned from injury and he has stopped still for a while.”
The Schalke youngster has some way to go before proving himself worthy of a €45m transfer fee, but one aspect of his game which he excels at – and Arsenal lack – is his dribbling skills. In 14 Bundesliga starts, he has notched up 72 successful dribbles – the most in the squad.
Palop however still has concerns, and when asked to name Schalke’s dangermen, he opted to leave the Arsenal target out. Instead, he advised Real Madrid to pay special attention to Jefferson Farfan, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and 19-year-old midfielder Leon Goretzka.
