Wenger Likens Michu To Bergkamp

Arsene Wenger has likened Swansea’s Spanish forward Michu to Arsenal and Holland legend Dennis Bergkamp ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Arsenal manager has been linked with a move for Michu in the past and says he sees Michu playing the sort of role for Swansea as Dennis Bergkamp did for Arsenal during the early 2000s, the Daily Mail report.

“I see him like a little bit, position-wise, like a Bergkamp, more than an up-front striker,” said Wenger.

“They can play with both [strikers] because Michu’s the kind of striker who is a midfielder as well. He can play both positions, that's why they are 4-4-1-1 or you can call that a 4-4-2 when Wilfried Bony plays.”

Michu had an incredible impact on Swansea’s first season in the Premier League having joined for just £2million from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano in the summer of 2012.

He has once again proven his incredible goal scoring ability this season, netting five times in ten games in both league and Europe.

According to the Daily Mail, Swansea are unwilling to part with Michu for anything under £20million having rejected claims that they might sell towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Swansea are looking to end Arsenal’s run of five straight wins in the Premier League on Saturday.
