Arsenal man set to extend deal

Arsenal man set to extend deal

Arsene WengerPremier League
wengerArsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to sign a contract extension keeping him at the club for a further three years.
It means that the club’s most successful manager will exceed an impressive 20 year stay in North London should he sign on the dotted line.
Deal
According to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman is set for a bumper pay-rise which will see him pocket £8 million-a-year under the new deal.
The newspaper also reports that the Arsenal board have set aside funds to pay for the new deal which have received a boost through sponsorship deals.
Wenger will receive an extra £500,000-a-year and informal talks have already taken place between himself and chief executive Ivan Gazidis in order to extend his stay at the Emirates.
Turnaround
It represents a dramatic turnaround from recent years where Wenger has faced the wrath of supporters for The Gunners underachieving and his reluctance to spend money.
But now with Arsenal winning an incredible 10 games in a row in all competitions, and the club record signing of Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil for a massive £42.5 million, that has reportedly been enough to convince the board that Wenger is still the right man for the job.
However, there has been no comment from the 63-year-old about how his contract talks are going with his deal set to run out next summer.
The Mail indicates that mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain wait in the wings to see whether Wenger will commit himself to the club, despite appointing former France national coach Laurent Blanc as their new coach in the summer.
They also suggest that the board will release more funds to Wenger in order to sign another striker in the January transfer window, with Olivier Giroud the club’s only natural centre-forward.
