Sources close to Luis Suarez claim that the 26-year-old striker will consider formally requesting a transfer and taking potential legal action against current club Liverpool if the Merseysiders do not allow the attacker to make a move to Arsenal, according to the BBC. Suarez maintains that the Gunners’ offer of £40 million plus £1 triggers a clause in the player’s contract allowing him to leave the club if he wants, but Liverpool continues to say that they only have to inform Suarez of Arsenal’s interest.
The Suarez transfer saga has continued for a few weeks now with no clear end in sight, with Liverpool desperately trying to keep hold of their leading scorer, while the Uruguayan international tries to join Arsenal. According to the BBC report, Suarez believes that he and Liverpool had a contractual agreement that would allow the Uruguayan forward to leave the club assuming the offer was over £40 million and the team making the offer was currently in the Champions League, both of which Arsenal met in their offer, causing Suarez to think about a legal way to leave the Anfield side.
The striker was absolutely incredible for the Reds last season, netting 23 times and placing second in the Premier League golden boot race, a strong reason that the Anfield side have no interest in letting the striker leave. The attacker has been in stunning form for Liverpool the last two seasons after joining from Eredivisie giants Ajax, who Suarez left in order to join a larger club.
The 26-year-old has been defiant in his want to leave Anfield however, with Wenger continuing his public fight to acquire the striker’s signature.
