Arsenal continue to remain confident that they will sign a furious Luis Suarez
The Suarez saga is starting to heat up as Arsenal doggedly pursue
what seems like the only striking target that they have left to chase. The Mirror
reported that the Uruguayan also favours a move away from Anfield and
that he is going to try and force his move to Arsenal this week.
Suarez, who was the heart and soul of a lacklustre Liverpool team
last season, seems intent on moving away from the Merseyside club
despite the warm reception that the fans generously granted him when he
came on in a 2-0 defeat in Steven Gerrard’s testimonial match. However,
the striker was notably absent in the testimonial dinner that followed
and was the only Liverpool first team player not in attendance.
The forward reportedly has always had huge respect for the team and its supporters but is furious with the club hierarchy over the £40m clause, which Suarez believes is his effective release clause, while Liverpool claims that an offer in excess of that amount only obliges them to inform the player about an offer and not necessarily accept it.
Now Suarez is considering a host of radical options including submitting a transfer request or taking their argument to the Premier League arbitration. Currently Suarez’s stance is that he feels betrayed by the club he respects and unless Liverpool relents, the striker will go as far as a legal action to bulldoze his way out of the club.
