Arsenal consider €46m bid for Madrid striker, as Suarez move falters
Written by Owen Midha on August 8, 2013
After missing out on Real’s Gonzalo Higuain, and moves for other strikers, including Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, failing to materialise, manager Arsene Wenger is still on the hunt for his first big name signing of the summer.
And now it seems Benzema, who has 58 international caps, could be the man.
The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in 50 games in all competitions last season, where he also made 19 assists.
Benzema scored twice after coming on as a substitute in Madird’s International Champions Cup game against LA Galaxy last week, winning them the match 3-1.
He is the only accomplished striking option that Real Madrid have, following the departure of Higuian, therefore it may take some convincing of Carlo Ancelotti to get this deal done.
