Arsenal's Mesut Ozil breaks Twitter silence

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil breaks Twitter silence

Ozil Downcast
Arsenal's Mesut Ozil has used his Twitter account for the first time since the fateful game at Anfield against Liverpool.
Mesut Ozil was back in action for Arsenal today, when many worried he could be rested against Bayern.
He had come under criticism after an ineffective display against Liverpool a week earlier in a 5-1 defeat in which he gave the ball away twice for first half goals.
The lack of contribution in that game was made more poignant by his pre-game Tweet ahead of the Anfield fixture:
Unsurprsingly he did not comment after the game, although some teammates did decide to offer an apology via social media for the team's display, Olivier Giroud being one.
The German then went eight days without using his Twitter account, sensibly deciding not to tempt fate with a similar pre-game message ahead of the FA Cup tie.
Instead he waited until after the match, which Arsenal won, to upload his first message in over a week:
Ozil had also spoken to German newspaper BILD earlier in the day, where he confessed he was still adjusting to football in England:
"I'm going through a test of character here, I have so much self-confidence as a player that I am ready now to take the next step.
"But first you have to get used to the intensity of the Premier League."
The win will certainly boost that confidence, just in time for the visit of Bayern Munich in midweek, which the German admits he is excited for:
"I have huge respect for Bayern, they are even better than they were last year, but we're not going to hide.
"Anything is possible over two legs. I'm the kind of player who loves games like these."
