Alan Pardew insists Newcastle United will work with Yohan Cabaye to resolve their differences after Arsenal’s failed summer bid for the France international.
The Gunners tabled an offer in the region of £10m for the midfielder towards the end of the summer transfer window but the Magpies were quick to turn down the north London club’s advances.Cabaye, 27, missed Newcastle’s first three matches of the season following the Gunners’ bid for his services but played the final 25 minutes in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Fulham.
And Pardew is keen to move on from the saga surrounding the midfielder’s future after he was omitted from the France squad ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Belarus.
“It was important to get him out there on Saturday, it will make it easier to move on although there is a lot of talking to be done between now and Aston Villa,” said Pardew.
“We will speak with Yohan and with his representatives to make sure that we go forward hand-in-hand.
“The guy has a World Cup at the end of the year and he is a big part of France’s plans. He hasn’t been picked this week and I think that was a bit of a shock to him.
“It was only because of the [transfer] situation, because I think he’s nailed on in their team. That whole situation will resolve itself.”
