Arsenal midfielder injured on international duty

Arsenal midfielder injured on international duty

Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky picks up a thigh injury during the Czech Republic's clash with Italy

Arsenal are likely to be without Tomas Rosicky for this weekend's trip to Sunderland after the playmaker picked up a knock on international duty with the Czech Republic.
Rosicky went off during the first half of the Czech Republic's 2-1 defeat to Italy in Turin last night with an injury to his right thigh, limping to the touchline in some discomfort as he was replaced after 42 minutes of the World Cup qualifier.
The 32-year-old is due back in London later today for a full examination from Arsenal's medical staff but looks doubtful to be considered fit for selection ahead Saturday's match against the Black Cats.

Rosicky has enjoyed a fine first month of the campaign with Arsene Wenger's side, starting four of their five games in all competitions in an advanced midfield role, primarily alongside Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere.
Injury problems are no stranger to the Czech captain, who has been plagued by persistent hamstring and groin trouble during his seven-year spell at the Emirates, including an 18-month spell on the sidelines which saw him miss the entire 2008-09 season.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has plenty of options in midfield as he ponders a potential replacement in midfield, particularly after splashing out a club-record £42.4m for German schemer Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline-day.
The 24-year-old is due to join his team-mates in London for the first time tomorrow morning and could be in line for an Arsenal debut at the Stadium of Light just two days
