Arsenal Battle Juventus for Udinese Stopper Simone Scuffet - Report
The Gunners will be without goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski who has revealed that he will not be extending his contract with the Gunners and will try his luck elsewhere in search for regular first team football.
The Pole has gone under the shadow of his compatriot at the Emirates and is desperate to secure his first team spot back with Poland where he is lagging behind the likes of Szczesny and Artur Boruc.
The 17-year-old has come out top in Arsene Wengers list and in spite of his young age has been a regular for Udinese in recent weeks.
The Gunners will face competition from Juventus, who are looking at the young keeper as a deputy for Gianluigi Buffon.
However, Udinese are known for their hard handed attitude when it comes transfers and Arsenal are unlikely to get Scuffet on the cheap, something which may put Wenger off.
The Gunners are currently second in the league, one point behind Chelsea and one above Manchester City as they look to win their first league title in almost a decade.
Arsenal were handed a sucker punch against Bayern Munich, as the referee gave the visitors a lifeline after sending Szczesny off for a challenge on Arjen Robben.
The Bundesliga leaders missed the resulting penalty but were too hot for a 10-man Arsenal side to cope. However, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes that it is never over until it is over in football.
"It's never over in this game and we're going to go there with belief that we can do it. This time last year we lost 3-1 here and we went there and we won 2-0. We can take confidence from that. Obviously 2-0 is not what we wanted. I thought we started the game really well, came out the traps and I think we surprised them with our start. But then obviously to go down to 10 men makes it a tough road from there on in," Chamberlain told www.arsenal.com.
