Arsenal suffer another injury blow with Sagna out for two weeks
By Andrew Tuft
Sagna pulled up during the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday evening and although he completed the match, a scan has revealed the damage is such that the 30-year-old will have to sit out the visit to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
The France international will also miss his country’s two matches over the international period, first a friendly with Australia before a game against Finland, and may not be fit in time for the resumption of the domestic programme. Arsenal host Norwich City in the Premier League on October 19.
Wenger will turn to Carl Jenkinson, the Mail believes, to replace Sagna against the Baggies, but the manager has to account for the experience of 30-year-old Sagna, the newspaper adds, describing the former Auxerre player as one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers of the season.
And Sagna is another established name on the injured list at the Emirates Stadium, joining Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla and others on the sidelines.
