Arsene Wenger expects his team to have learned from their mistakes ahead of Liverpool clash

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has challenged his team to learn from their back to back defeats at home and bounce back against Liverpool, this weekend. The Gunners were beaten by last year’s Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates last week before Chelsea crushed them 2-0 in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday to show them the door.
Wenger was quoted in The Daily Mirror, saying: “We want to win every home game, so the home form is a concern – but not as big a concern as the statistics might show it. Against Dortmund and Chelsea, we gave easy goals away. That is a positive and a negative. The negative is that we gave the goals away, but the positive is that neither of them created too many chances against us. It is down to how we get rid of those mistakes without losing the belief in our qualities. That is what is at stake.”
The Frenchman also said that although it is hard to take the consecutive defeats handed out to them, the mistakes they committed can be corrected. He said that the team now needs to focus on the Liverpool game and garner maximum points from the clash, and consolidate their position at the top of the Premier League table.
Wenger also pointed out that while the Gunners have been exceptional away from home this season, they need to match that with impressive performances at the Emirates.
Critics will keep an eye on the performances of the north Londoners, who have been pretty impressive against lesser opponents in the Premier League this season but have to now prove their worth against other title contenders.
