Mikel Arteta has spoken of his disappointment that Arsenal were unable to lure Luis Suárez to The Emirates this summer.

The Gunners submitted two bids for the Uruguay international, including a £40,000,001 offer, but the Reds were adamant the 26-year-old striker was not for sale at any price.
Suárez, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season, has netted six goals in his last four appearances ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Areta was a former neighbour of Suárez, and the uncapped Spaniard rates Daniel Sturridge and the South American as the Premier League’s form parternship.
“People don’t know the real Luis,” Arteta told the Sun. “He’s a really good lad.
“I know Suárez really well. He used to live in the next house to me and, whenever I’ve met him, he’s always been really nice.
“It’s a pity Arsenal could not get Suárez.
“Suárez and Daniel Sturridge are the two most in-form strikers in the league and will be a big threat to us. But we have the quality to beat them.”
